DJ Hero announced

Activision just confirmed a whole lot of heroes: the DJ Hero being the most notable among them. Many trivial humans had conjectured what a "Hero"-style DJ controller would look like, and at last we have our first look (above, and there's another shot after the break). Sure, we have no idea how we're supposed to play it -- where's the whammy bar, for instance? -- but we're sure once we tape a couple of our mom's Perry Como records to the sides we'll start to get the picture. Music genres include "hip-hop, R&B, Motown, electronica and dance," and the game will allow turntablists to create "original mixes" of songs. Additionally, Activision is also prepping a family-friendly Band Hero game, and a Guitar Hero 5 followup to its flagship title, with all three new Hero games hitting sometime this fall.

Device that prvents HIV or pregnancy

The device was created by scientists from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York – one of the most respected medical schools in the world. Second, they issued an OFFICIAL press release about the new device.

Here are excerpts from the release:
Researchers from Weill Cornell Medical College have published results showing that a new contraceptive device may also effectively block the transmission of the HIV virus. Findings show that the device prevents infection by the HIV virus in laboratory testing. The promising results are published in the most recent issue of the journal AIDS.

The new device is a vaginal ring that releases multiple types of non-hormonal agents and microbicides, which would prevent conception as well as sexually transmitted HIV infection…

The vaginally inserted ring is incorporated with multiple antiviral drugs that prevent HIV infection and are time-released over a period up to 28 days. The compounds tested were a newly developed anti-HIV agent, Boc-lysinated betulonic acid, TMC120 (dapivirine), PMPA, and 3'-azido-3'-deoxythymidine (AZT or zidovudine), which, when combined, were found to block infection in human cells exposed to the virus in a laboratory setting.

Jay-Z and Live Nation not a done deal!

What happened you ask?? Well word on the street is that the deal was never “officially” consummated – meaning the contracts were never signed - and now the peeps over at Live Nation are looking to back out of it.

And there may be something to the whispers. Because here’s an excerpt in today’s NY Daily News about a new deal between Jay Z and Atlantic:
A well-placed industry source tells us that Jay - who recently left Def Jam as a recording artist (he served as its president from 2004-2007) - has been taking top-secret meetings with his old pals and former managers Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles. Topics of the hush-hush conversations have included giving Jay his own record label at WMG, tentatively to be called the Carter Music Group.

"Jay knows Lyor and Kevin from back when they all worked together at Def Jam, and he obviously wants to work something out with his friends," says our insider. "He wants to get the dream team back together. There have been a few whiffs of a reunion in the past, but only now - and very privately - is something finally starting to happen."
We can tell you FOR A FACT that Atlantic ain’t got nowhere near $150 million to give to Jay. So then why ELSE would Jay give up his Live Nation money to go there…

Ice Ice Baby

Can ice be luxurious? And will people really be willing to drop up to $8 per “sphere” to chill down their premium coctails? The folks at the Glace Luxury Ice Co. are betting on it.

The upstart luxury ice company is aiming to occupy the top spot in the premium ice category (we didn’t know such a category existed) with its perfectly spherical ice cubes that are hand-carved in Canada and delivered in dry ice. Made from purified water, Glace’s luxury ice cubes are free from the minerals and other pollutants found in regular ice that can contaminate the taste of premium liquors. And according to the company, Glace’s spheres “will crackle and spider” but they “will not break apart like less deserving ice or home-made ice.” Perfect for that $38,000 bottle of Macallan or any of the other baller bottles posted on the top shelf of your home bar.

A pack of five will set you back $40. Bulk orders of 240 luxury ice spheres run $1,440.

Floyd is getting boxed in

Floyd Mayweather is the target of lawsuit from a company that claims the boxer stole their artist.

Just for You Entertainment, a Long Island-based company, alleges that the Mayweather-owned Philthy Rich Records signed Freck Billionaire even though the rapper was signed to them in 2005.

Just for You claims the company spent $155,000 in recording studio time, travel expenses and other costs when Billionaire was an artist on their label.

Philthy Rich Records now must contend with a $600,000 civil claim from Just for You Entertainment, according to the New York Post.

Freck Billionaire hails from Philadelphia.

Floyd Mayweather, who retired for 17 months, has returned to boxing and has a fight set for July 18 with lightweight champ Juan Manuel Marquez.

Scott has to pay!

Scott Storch was handed another financial defeat, when a Miami-Dade jury awarded a former business partner a $750,000 judgment against the hit producer. Storch was sued by Miami-Beach actor Matt Sinnreich, who paid Storch $25,000 to form a cooperation to produce Sindy Espitia and rapper Darrel “D Shep” Sheppard. According to the Miami Times, Storch never formed the cooperation and never returned the money. The producer was accused of breach of contract and civil theft. The judgment awarded was a default judgment, because Storch never replied to the complaint. Storch’s $10 million dollar mansion is set to be sold off on June 26. — By Ace Cannon

Pitbull's knock out

Who is Julie Henderson

Julie Henderson is the latest in a long line of models to hook up with hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, but the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model decided to set herself apart from the pack by addressing their relationship in an ill-advised letter published on his GlobalGrind blog:
I have been spending "special time" with Russell for about 4 months and in that time I have learned some subtle things about some in the black community that have surprised me. I must say that while it has been a bit of a challenge for me, it has also been a wonderful learning experience. I realize that in this day of Obama and change that there is still a tremendous amount of poverty, suffering and pain in the black community, and for that I am deeply sorry. But, I have to say the angry responses to those realities are sometimes misdirected. Just for the record, I am nobody's white b*tch, gold digger or fame chaser. Nor am I any of the other mean things I have been called lately. I don't need anything from anybody, I come from a good family and I'm a young independent "successful' model making my way in NYC. (If you don?t believe me google me or go to juliehenderson.net).
Finally, I just wanna say that Russell has been a great "special" friend and I'm sure as sh*t not giving him up cause some in America object to our friendship. I wanna close by saying, what Russell always says, Namaste. (That means the goddess in me recognizes the goddess in you)?.Or, b*tch get your own man. Love, Julie

Rebel Talking ? Oh no she didn't! This chick has clearly been driven delusional by "the fever"! GOOGLE me this -- how many models, black, white or other do you think Russell knocked down on his way to you?

Rihanna - Miss Promiscuous

Rihanna has been quite the "Promiscuous Girl" this month, first hanging out with an old flame in Barbados and more recently, ho-hopping it all over New York City. According to the NY Post:

The "Umbrella" hit maker showed no signs of being hung up on Brown on Sunday night (17May09), when she and six of her friends spent several hours watching exotic dancers at FlashDancers nightclub in New York, taking over a Vip area and spending $2,500 before leaving at 3:30am, eyewitness says.
A source says, "Rihanna didn't get any lap dances herself, but she was tipping the girls a lot. And she was definitely with one of the guys in her group and kissing him all night."

The fun continued on Monday, when Riri "threw her 1's up in the air" for my current favorite Toronto rapper/singer Drake. Rihanna landed in the Post'ss Page Six again this week for publicly lip-locking with the star at the bowling alley:

RIHANNA is officially over Chris Brown. The Barbadian beauty showed up with a group of friends Monday at Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge on West 42nd Street, but spent most of the night locking lips with Canadian former child actor-turned-rapper Aubrey "Drake" Graham. "She was drinking whiskey and apple juice and making out with him all night," says a spy. "They were really cute together." Rihanna, who's also been spending time in town with Katy Perry, peeled off with Drake at about midnight.

Rebel Talking... Clearly Rihanna knows a good rebound when she sees one, but a word of advice for Heartbreak Drake, while kissing might seem harmless, but kiss the wrong girl (word to Katy Perry) and you might end up rapping for Valtrex.

Jay-Z buys out contract

Jay-Z is going out the way he came in, on his own terms. The Brooklyn MC is officially an independent artist after ending his 12-year run on Def Jam Records. Still under contract for one more album, Jay bought out the rights to the remaining album. He later confirmed all reports.
"I can honestly say, working with Doug Morris and LA Reid has been a unique and fulfilling experience and I respect them immensely. I've been in the family for almost my entire career.
Doug and I spoke directly and had one of the most unique 'negotiations' ever. Doug won the toss but, we both won in the end.
I thank him for allowing me to be a completely independent artist. Not every artist can say they own or are given the opportunity to own all of their music." (RapRadar)

Once again Jay-Z proves his acumen as a businessman. Clearly the delay of the Blueprint 3 was proof that Jay and Def Jam were not on the same page. Rather than whining and complaining about the label, dude negotiated a buyout. Most rappers would have not handled this so smoothly. (See: Cam'ron, Max B, Young Buck) However, on the flipside there must be something about Jay that tells Def Jam they are better off without the greatest rapper of all time. Two words: Kanye West.

Eminem Planning Violent Game For iPhone

Rapper Eminem has revealed a gaming application that could find its way into the iTunes application store. The rapper announced the game on his Twitter page and posted a link to the game, which is also titled Relapse.Eminem has had a tense relationship with iTunes.
The two have battled in court twice, the first time over a commercial that featured Eminem's track "Lose Yourself," the second over downloading royalties. In 2005, Eminem’s Eight Mile Style publishing company agreed to an undisclosed financial settlement over an iPod commercial that featured “Lose Yourself,” without permission. In March of 2009, FBT Productions, a company affiliated with Eminem, sued Universal Records in an attempt to get higher royalty rates on all digital sales through Apple’s iTunes App Store.FBT argued that their tracks were “masters,” which were then reproduced as digital copies. While Eminem was not a party to that lawsuit, FBT, he would have made millions, had FBT one the case, which went in favor of Universal, after a judge ruled that a sold online is no different than a song bought in a store.
It appears that the various legal skirmishes have not impacted Eminem's relationship with Apple thus far, although the rapper's proposed game may not help the relationship. The screen capture of The Relapse game features a tattooed figure angrily approaching a skeleton or masked-liked figure, with a studded 2x4.The game may not meet Apple's standards for decency, as similar apps like “Slasher” and “Murderdrome” have been rejected in the past.More recently, an updated iPhone app from Nine Inch Nails was rejected, reportedly due to the lyrical content of their album The Downward Spiral.Trent Reznor, who is currently protesting the decision, pointed out that iTunes carries the album in the store, yet has blocked the album’s application to iPhones.Tomorrow (May 5), Eminem’s track "Old Time's Sake” featuring Dr. Dre will go on sale in Apple’s iTunes store. No official word is available about Eminem's Relapse application. Eminem’s album The Relapse hits stores May 19.

Cinemax To Debut Full-Length "3AM" Video

Detroit superstar Eminem has released a viral clip to accompany his Dr. Dre produced, serial killer-themed second single “3AM.”The 30- second clip juxtaposes visceral images of a deranged Eminem running through a forest and escaping from a mental health facility. Through the quick flashes, the viewer can determine that Eminem likely kills his mental health handlers to facilitate his escape. “3AM,” which was directed by Syndrome, is the third track to be released from Eminem’s upcoming album The Relapse. Like his lead singles “The Real Slim Shady” and “The Way I Am” off 2000’s critically acclaimed Marshall Mathers LP, Eminem’s “3AM” will serve as the dark counterpart to the pop sensibilities of “We Made You.” The full-length, uncensored video for “3AM” will debut exclusively on Cinemax on May 2 at 10PM. The video is set to follow the network’s premier of the horror movie The Strangers. The single and trailer clip continue Eminem’s new focus on viral marketing. Last week, the Interscope star released a viral website to a sinister, fictional drug rehabilitation facility entitled Popsomp Hills. Eminem’s sixth album Relapse is scheduled for release on May 19.

Recognizable Everywhere You Go, Even the Bathroom

SmartFaucet from iHouse is bringing facial-recognition technology into the bathroom. Don’t worry, no one’s spying on you. Facial-recognition technology is nothing new as we’ve seen it in cameras, vending machines in Japan, iPhoto, and of course in Bill Gates’ Seattle home where every room you walk into changes the photographs on the wall, temperature, and even music, to your presets. But SmartFaucet takes the technology one step further in the bathroom by allowing facial-recognition technology to pour out the perfect water temperature for you along with a colored light to designate the temperature before washing your hands. The coolest part of the SmartFaucet has to be the touch screen control from which you not only control the faucet temperature and water flow, but can check your email, calendar, and the weather. All that’s left is for it to wipe your…

Eminems Reveals Relapse Album Cover

Never one to employ subtlety when a sledgehammer will do, Eminem released the cover art to his upcoming Relapse album through his Twitter account on Tuesday (April 21).The image that will grace the MC's first disc of new material in more than four years features a headshot of Slim Shady staring out with eyes narrowed composed entirely of thousands of pills. The not-at-all-veiled nod to the rapper's struggle with addiction to prescription medication is in keeping with Em's career-long habit of putting his personal struggles on display in his art, from his problems with twice-ex-wife Kimberley Mathers to his disputes with his mother and beating at the hands of a bully in high school. The iconic backward E that has been a part of Em's graphic persona makes another appearance in the lower right-hand corner at the end of the album's title in a sticker made up to look like the label on a pill bottle. It lists the patient's name as Mathers, Marshall, with an address in his old stomping grounds, Detroit's 8 Mile Road, and counsels him to take one tablet once a day at 3 a.m.The refill date on the prescription reads 5-19-09, the album's release date, and the prescribing doctor is, of course, Em's mentor and beatmaster, Dr. Dre. In a recent cover-story interview with XXL magazine, Em explained that the death of best friend and D12 member Proof in 2006 was part of what put him on a downward spiral of prescription drugs after he'd already visited rehab to work on an addiction to sleeping medication that scuttled his 2005 European tour."I think it kind of hit me so hard," Em told the magazine about Proof's shooting death in a Detroit bar. "It just blindsided me. I just went into such a dark place that, with everything, the drugs, my thoughts, everything. And the more drugs I consumed — and it was all depressants I was taking — the more depressed I became, the more self-loathing I became."The cover has a decidedly more serious look than the first video for the album, the celeb-slamming "We Made You," which has drawn fire from right-wing talking head Bill O'Reilly for its digs at former Republican vice-presidential candidate Governor Sarah Palin. Relapse will be followed by a sequel album tentatively slotted for later this year titled Relapse 2.
